Establishing A Health Center

This project was initiated in response to a clear and pressing need for accessible healthcare within the local community of Bolifamba in Cameroon. Many residents, including internally displaced persons and vulnerable families, face significant barriers to receiving basic medical services due to distance, cost, and limited facilities. Led by Dr. Edwin, a highly committed local physician, the clinic is envisioned as a welcoming and reliable space where patients can receive essential care close to home. The project reflects a strong partnership between community leadership and supporting organizations, united by a shared goal of improving health outcomes.

Current Status of the Building

The Plan

The project involves establishing and equipping a functional community clinic that can provide outpatient services, basic procedures, and referrals when specialized care is needed. Initial funding by the Luena Foundation and Sumar Lakhani Foundation supports facility preparation, essential medical equipment, and staff salaries during the start-up phase. In addition to delivering care, the clinic is designed with sustainability in mind, incorporating a mixed model of low-cost paid services and free care for those unable to pay.

The Impact

The impact of this clinic on the community is expected to be significant and far-reaching. By bringing healthcare closer to those who need it most, the project will reduce delays in treatment, improve maternal and child health, and provide dignity and care to displaced and underserved populations. Beyond medical services, the clinic strengthens community trust, creates local employment, and lays the groundwork for a sustainable healthcare resource.
